Brunei LNG Plant
The Brunei LNG plant in Lumut, operational since 1972, is one of the world's oldest and largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities. It is a joint venture between the Government of Brunei, Shell Overseas Trading, and Mitsubishi Corporation. The plant has been pivotal to Brunei's economic development, establishing the country as a leading LNG exporter. The majority of its production is exported to Japan and South Korea under long-term contracts. The facility has undergone several upgrades over the years to enhance efficiency and safety. It processes natural gas from Brunei's offshore fields and plays a central role in Southeast Asia's energy sector. The plant covers an area of approximately 130 hectares.
