Gramado Zoo (Brazil)

Weather…

Gramado Zoo, located in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, is a pioneering institution focusing exclusively on the conservation of Brazilian fauna. Opened on September 20, 2008, it distinguishes itself from traditional zoos by the complete absence of bars and concrete cages, utilizing large safety glass panels for observation instead. The area covers 200,000 square meters and houses more than 1,500 animals from around 200 native species, including endangered animals such as the jaguar, the maned wolf, and various colorful parrot species. The design of the enclosures strictly follows the natural habitats of the animals, particularly the Atlantic Forest ecosystem. In addition to daytime observation, the park features special night tours to study the behavior of nocturnal species in a controlled environment. The facility also serves as an important center for the rehabilitation of injured wildlife and actively participates in breeding programs for species at risk of extinction.
