Palácio da Alvorada (Brazil)

Weather…

The Palácio da Alvorada is the official residence of the President of Brazil and an architectural masterpiece located in the capital, Brasília. Designed by Oscar Niemeyer, it was the first government building inaugurated in the new city in June 1958. The palace is characterized by its distinctive curved white columns, which give the horizontal structure an appearance of lightness, as if it were floating above the ground. The unique shape of these columns has become an icon of the city and is featured on Brasília's official coat of arms. The residence is situated on a peninsula on the shores of Lake Paranoá and is surrounded by extensive gardens designed by the landscape architect Roberto Burle Marx. Its interior includes ceremonial reception halls, a private chapel, and a collection of significant Brazilian artworks and modern furniture. Representing the modernity and optimism of the Juscelino Kubitschek era, the palace is preserved as part of a UNESCO World Heritage site.
