Jahorina is a prominent mountain range within the Dinaric Alps, located in southeastern Bosnia and Herzegovina, just 28 kilometers from Sarajevo. Its highest peak, Ogorjelica, reaches an elevation of 1,916 meters, providing dramatic views of the neighboring Trebević and Igman mountains. The mountain gained international fame as a key venue for the 1984 Winter Olympics, hosting the women's alpine skiing competitions. Thanks to favorable climatic conditions and reliable snowfall, Jahorina has developed into one of the leading winter sports centers in Southeast Europe. Beyond the ski season, the mountain provides a wealth of summer activities, including mountain biking, hiking, and paragliding. Historically, the area saw early tourism development, with the first modern ski lift being operational as early as 1952. The landscape is characterized by dense coniferous forests and expansive alpine meadows, home to a diverse range of flora and fauna. Today, Jahorina continues to modernize its infrastructure, attracting both professional athletes and leisure travelers with its high-quality slopes and hospitality services.
