National Flag Monument (Argentina)

Weather…

The National Flag Memorial in Rosario is one of Argentina's most significant landmarks, marking the spot where Manuel Belgrano first raised the national flag on February 27, 1812. Designed by architects Ángel Guido and Alejandro Bustillo, the monumental complex was inaugurated in 1957 after decades of planning and construction. It consists of three primary sections: the 70-meter high Tower (La Torre), the Civic Courtyard (Patio Cívico), and the Propylaea, which houses the eternal flame honoring those who died for the country. The entire structure is clad in travertine stone from San Juan province, giving it a monolithic and timeless appearance. Beneath the tower lies a crypt dedicated to Belgrano, and the site features numerous sculptures by renowned artists such as Lola Mora and Alfredo Bigatti. Every June 20th, the memorial serves as the focal point for the national Flag Day celebrations.
